Welcome to Luv at First Bite!
My name is Danika Wishlow (Peltzer). I am the owner and the creative mind behind Luv at First Bite. As my Blog describes, I am a twenty-something-year-old pastry artist from the beautiful Creston Bc.
Starting Luv at First Bite became my dream through the last year of high school. After I graduated in 2013, I was given a wonderful opportunity at Famous Fritz Meats & Deli to bake cupcakes and sell them right in store. I quickly became known as the “Cupcake Girl.”
In 2014, I was able to continue following my dreams by attending the Pastry Arts Program at the Okanagan College. I then spent countless hours learning, working, volunteering, and preparing in the Okanagan and across Canada, hoping to bring it all back to my hometown (Creston Bc) someday.
In 2016, I moved back to Creston and began building Luv at First Bite once again, focussing on creating desserts that represent the Creston Valley.
I am excited to contribute to our wonderful community by buying local, by providing a dessert choice that my customers can feel good about, and to connect with those who call Creston home. I believe that each dessert I offer is a potential work of art, a gift for each guest, and is handcrafted with individual attention and care, respecting the ingredients used.
I hope you enjoy my work, as much as I enjoy creating it.
Training and Certification:
FoodSafe level 1& 2 certificate. Food and Beverage Management certificate. Baking and Pastry Arts level 1 Certificate.
Plus training at the Pastry training center of Vancouver, the Cacao Barry Academy in Montreal, 2017 Junior Chef Culinary Exchange Recipient to Niagara Falls, and countless hours of work experience in the Okanagan + across Canada.
For me, learning never ends. I am looking forward to furthering my education, and participating in more culinary events in the future.
